How to reach Syros

•  GENERAL INFO
• There is no direct flight from Netherlands to Syros. You should first go to Athens. See the below sections.
• If you want to reach Syros by plane, first you fly to Athens Airport (El. Venizelos) and then to Syros Airport. First flight duration approximately 3.30' + waiting time + duration of second flight 30'. We don't recommend flying to Syros, as it's more expensive.
• Alternatively you can fly to Athens and then take a ferry to Syros (This is more recommended). Read below about your ferry adventure!
•  You could combine your trip with a visit to Athens, either before, or after your stay in Syros. Contact us for information and advice.  

• FERRY to Syros from Piraeus Port
• Friday 8.9.2017
•  Departure from the port of Piraeus at 7.30 / 19.00 and arrival at the port of Syros at 11.15 / 23.00, respectively.   
  

• Saturday 9.9.2017
• Departure from the port of Piraeus at 7.30 am and arrival at the port of Syros at 11.15.
• Return from the port of Syros at 20.30 and arrival at the port of Piraeus at 00.00.

• Sunday 10.9.2017
• Return from the port of Syros at 16.00 / 20.35 and arrival at the port of Piraeus at 20.00 / 23.55 respectively.

• Monday 11.9.2017
• Return from the port of Syros at 04.20 / 16.00 / 20.35 and arrival at the port of Piraeus at 8.00 / 20.00 / 23.55 respectively.
• Tuesday 12.9.2017
•  Return from the port of Syros at 16.00 / 20.35 and arrival at the port of Piraeus at 20.00 / 23.55 respectively.

• TICKETS
• To book ferry tickets please see here.
• All ferry tickets are provided in paper form (so not electronic form). First you book your tickets on-line, pay by card and then arrange to pick them up from the port of Piraeus, in front of the ferry (1 hour before departure). If you travel with ferry from Hellenic Seaways, then you can pick up your tickets from gate E8 at the port. If you travel with ferry from Blue Star Ferries, then you can pick up your tickets from gate E6 or E7. To collect your ticket, you must present your passport or ID.

• AIRPLANE to Syros from Athens. (Flight duration 30')

• There are also numerous international flights to Mykonos Island. So you can first fly to Mykonos and then go to Syros by ferry. Syros can be very easily reached by ferry from Mykonos (Trip duration 1.00').

Syros airport

The airport can be easily accessed by the centre of the island (Ermoupoli), either by taxi or bus. Distance from Ermoupoli (City centre): 3 klm.  To call a taxi you can either call here, or Mr Nikos, +30 697 875 0776, he is a taxi driver himself, and an English speaker.

        How to go from Athens Airport to the city center and to Pireaus port

• once you arrive at the airport, you'll have to take the TRAIN
• when you reach the airport, go to Trains

• buy your ticket either from an automatic ticket machine or from the ticket desk
• first train leaves at 6.00, last leaves at 23.33 sharp
• every 30 minutes
• Departure From Athens Airport

• Time until arrival to Syntagma is 38 min
• The price is 10 EUR per person (or 2 persons 18 EUR, or 3 persons 24 EUR)
• Validate your ticket in the machine - only once before going on board
• Only cash payment may be available!
•  In order to go to the centre of Athens, you need to take the BLUE LINE – NUMBER 3, that goes to SYNTAGMA or MONASTIRAKI 
• In order to go to the Pireaus PORT, you need to take the BLUE LINE – NUMBER 3, that goes to MONASTIRAKI and then change to GREEN LINE - NUMBER 1, that goes to Pireaus. As soon as you step out of the train station in Pireaus, look to the sea and you'll see the Pireaus port (5-10 min on foot to the gate).
• If you arrive too late or too early, you might not be able to catch the train. Then you can take a bus, see here, or a taxi, see here (taxi is not recommended).
